The Jeep Gladiator arrived for the 2019 model year with a lot of hype. It was the first pickup truck for Jeep since Comanche departed in 1992. Gladiator is a 4-door, 5-passenger midsize pickup with exterior styling similar to the Jeep Wrangler. Most notably, the Gladiator is currently the only pick up on the market with a removable roof and doors.

While these virtual announcements certainly offer the public a front-seat glimpse at the newest sheet metal to soon hit the street, one could argue that they still can’t replace the tangible experience that an auto show provides.

The only auto manufacturing plant located within the city limits is Ford's Chicago Assembly Plant on Torrance Ave. Ford broke ground on that plant 100 years ago and, over the years, the plant has produced some of the company's most iconic vehicles including the Model T, Model A, Thunderbird, Taurus and today's Ford Explorer.
