The Heartland Blood Centers Shared the Love

Posted by: Hayley Feichter

This Valentine's Day, all Chicago Auto Show attendees had the chance to give back by donating blood at the Heartland Blood Center. Tucked away in the back right corner of the South Hall in the Aftermarket Section, participants were warmly greeted by the friendly Heartland staff.

Together donors were able help save patients like Julie. Entering her eighth month of pregnancy, Julie became a victim of preeclampsia. Her life depended on blood and platelet donations being readily available.

In an effort to encourage more donations, the Army, Marines and Navy battled it out to see who donated the most blood first. The Marines came in first with 60 total units donated (the Army trailed with 36 and the Navy came in with 7 units).

All donors were able to enjoy some free drink refreshments and take home a Chicago Auto Show T-shirt and goodie bag. However, most importantly, they fueled life.

Thanks to eveyrone who shared the love at #CAS17!
