Super Cars Lead To a Super Appreciation

Posted by: Whitney Huggins

As a Chicago native this is not my first time attending the Chicago Auto Show, however, this is the first time I've been old enough to genuinely appreciate how grand the show truly is.

Before this week I thought of cars as a simple necessity in life. After working the show my perspective has changed tremendously. I've learned that cars are just like a painting or sculpture or a piece of writing. It is a work of art. There is a lot of time and attention to detail that goes into creating a product that goes beyond simply being functionality. Viewing cars like the Bugatti Veyron 16.4, the McLaren 650S Spider, or the Ford GT gave me an immense appreciation for the industry in all of its aspects.

Also while working I realized that the show is not just about showcasing the most well-crafted vehicles. The show exhibits every aspect of owning a car from owning insurance, safe driving habits to addressing how a car reflects who you are as a person.

The Kia Trail'ster is a prime example. It is chic, youthful, and conventional enough for a city driver but it is capable to be driven in more rugged environments. To me that is awe-worthy.

Working behind the scenes gave me a first-hand look at the massive amount of coordination, passion, and energy that goes into upholding the title of being the nation's largest auto show. This year was no different. Chicago, you did it again and I thank you!
