Spots Available for Scion's Defensive Driving Academy at Autobahn Country Club Joliet

Posted by: Mark Bilek

Now through the end of September, Scion is offering a Defensive Driving Academy at the Autobahn Country Club of Joliet. The robust, one-day program teaches teenagers, fleet drivers and law enforcement officials how to avoid accidents, maneuver skid situations and understand vehicle dynamics and control.

Scion will provide a fleet of compact, sporty vehicles for the Defensive Driving Academy's safety drills - upping the "cool factor" of the program. Scion's fleet model lineup includes the:

  • xD urban subcompact five-door;
  • xB urban utility vehicle;
  • tC sports coupe; and
  • micro-subcompact iQ.

No simulators here. Each course, taught by professional racing instructors, is a combination of classroom teaching and actual behind-the-wheel drills. The curriculum really applies to everyone, but programs are targeted to teenagers, fleet and law enforcement - the three categories of what are considered the highest risk drivers. In fact, drivers under 21 years of age are three times as likely to be involved in a crash as drivers age 21 and older.

Upon completion of the Defensive Driving Academy, participants receive a certificate, which many insurance companies recognize with a policy discount.

Spots are still available for upcoming sessions on Sunday, Aug. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 28. Additional program details along with cost and scheduling can be found at
