Small Town Girl Meets Big Time Media

Posted by: Hope Webb

As someone from a town of fewer than 10,000 people, driving to Chicago was intimidating for me. Traffic seemed so peaceful one second, and suddenly I was in bumper-to-bumper traffic down a five-lane highway. All well knowing Chicago drivers are notorious for getting up close and personal, my expectations were exceeded significantly.

Everything seems about 200 times bigger here than back home, but the biggest is McCormick Place. Before I got here, I wondered how they were going to fit so many cars in any sort of space. Now, I'm getting overwhelmed thinking about how many people will be needed to fill up the massive amounts of space on the floor.

Everyone keeps talking about the flood of people that will arrive later in the week, and I'm not sure if I should be excited or nervous. Even just doing preparatory work makes me think about the masses of people that will pass through the Media Center. Either way, I'm incredibly thrilled to be a part of something so much bigger than myself.
