The 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT made its global debut in front of thousands of industry media representatives during the Chicago Auto Show last February. This compact hatchback brought a new look and feel to the Elantra, encompassing a longer and wider model.
During the 2017 Chicago Auto Show Media Preview, Scott Margason, director of product planning for Hyundai, discussed the importance of the reveal: "Elantra has been a major contributor to Hyundai's sales success. Buyers are looking for more utility in their vehicles, so that's what we're giving them. This is a hatchback that has your back. It's for owners who work hard and play hard."
Hyundai is no stranger to unveiling vehicles at the Chicago Auto Show – especially in the case of Elantra. According to Hyundai Senior Public Relations Manager Miles Johnson, "This is the third time we've unveiled the Elantra here at the Chicago Auto Show."

The 2018 Elantra GT will come in seven different trim levels, ranging from the base GL with manual transmission, to the Sport Ultimate DCT, which will cost $30,499. That's a more than $4,000 jump up from the highest-priced Elantra GT from last year, the $26,249 Limited model.
Also new for the 2018 Elantra is a second engine choice. In addition to the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (162 hp/150 lb-ft of torque), Hyundai is offering an alternative 1.6-liter four-cylinder powerplant with turbocharging (201 hp/195 lb-ft torque). The fuel economy ranges from 7.1 liters per 100 km highway to 10.7 l/100 km city.
This brand-new hatchback is hitting Chicago-area dealerships this month. To schedule a test drive, visit DriveChicago.com to find the closest dealer near you.
