Join Nissan's #RedThumb Movement

Posted by: Erin Guth

Earlier this week, Nissan kicked off its Red Thumb campaign to promote safe driving and spread awareness of the dangers of texting and driving. Nissan's Red Thumb Movement encourages drivers to take a pledge to not text and drive.

Nissan acknowledges the overwhelming amount of fatalities due to using phones while driving and hopes the Red Thumb Movement will remind drivers nationwide to practice safe driving.

The Red Thumb Movement was inspired by the "Red Thumb Reminder" program created by Steve Babcock, who got the idea from his daughter's use of yarn tied to her thumb to remember to bring certain items to school with her. The campaign encourages drivers to paint their thumbs red as a reminder to put their phones down and concentrate on the road.

Chicagoland Nissan dealers are giving away red bands to serve as a reminder to keep your thumbs off your phone and your hands on the wheel while driving. For a complete list of local Nissan dealers, visit www.drivechicago.com.
