First Look at the 2015 Jeep Renegade

The 2015 all-new Jeep Renegade is the brand’s first entry in the subcompact SUV segment, and expands Jeep’s global vehicle lineup. According to Jeep, the Renegade is unlike any small SUV, and it appeals to adventurous customers by offering a best-in-class off-road capability. 

The Renegade has classic Jeep characteristics such as trapezoidal wheel arches, circle headlights, and a seven-slotted grille. Some of the new features include a military-inspired “X” form design in the tail lamps, and a “MySky” roof panel system that allows buyers to open up the vehicle.

In order to deliver great off-road capability, Renegade offers two of the most advanced 4x4 systems in its class,. Both systems can provide up to 100 percent of the engine’s available torque to the ground through any wheel for optimal grip. To provide the Renegade with enhanced fuel economy, it has a disconnecting rear axle. Also available is a power take-off unit – the first small SUV to offer it.

In order to meet a range of performance and efficiency needs, the 2015 Jeep Renegade offers 16 powertrain combinations, this is the most ever in a Jeep vehicle.  In the United States, the Renegade will be offered in four trim levels and two engine and transmission options: a 2.4-liter gas engine with nine-speed automatic transmission, and a 1.4-liter turbo gas engine and six-speed manual transmission.

Jeep is tailoring the Renegade to a younger crowd of buyers by mixing in more color options.  Exterior body colors include: Colorado Red Clear Coat, Omaha Orange Clear Coat, Solar Yellow Clear Coat, Mojave Sand Clear Coat, Commando Clear Coat, Sierra Blue Clear Coat, Glacier Metallic Clear Coat, Black Clear Coat, Alpine White Clear Coat, and Anvil Clear Coat. The trim levels will include entry-level Sport, Latitude, Limited and off-road Trailhawk.

The all-new interior features a rugged and energetic appearance, it includes precisely crafted detail, innovative and high-quality color and material appointments, the latest technology, and great storage features.

Some of the highlights on the dashboard include the Uconnect Access and Uconnect touchscreen radio systems.  UConnecct Access has features such as emergency service dispatchers with the “ASSIST’ button, and the ability receive and read text messages aloud.  The Uconnect touchscreen radio systems feature hands free communication, entertainment, and navigation.  In addition radio data system capability, digital audio broadcast, HD Radio, Sirius XM Radio, and many more.

The Renegade is pricing has not been released yet, but officials said the company expects it to achieve more than 30 miles per gallon with competitive pricing. Chrysler has planned to do a staggered launch of the Renegade by starting in Europe during the fourth quarter.  After that the Renegade will come to the U.S. and other markets in 2015.
