Posted by: Holly Macaluso

Ford adds the performance-orientated Edge ST to its midsize crossover SUV line. Other Edge trim levels include SE, SEL and Titanium. The Edge ST offers a potent 335-horsepower EcoBoost engine, sport-tuned suspension, and Ford's Co-Pilot360 driver-assist technology.

The ST comes standard with a turbocharged, 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost engine. With 335 horsepower on tap and a 0-60 MPH time of just 6 seconds, Ford claims this is the most powerful V6 engine in its segment. Ford improved the Edge's suspension and brakes to handle the increased power of the turbocharged V6 engine. The ST-tuned sport suspension was designed for better body control, tight corners and steering control. The 2019 Edge braking system is enhanced by 4-wheel disc brakes with Anti-Lock Brake System.

The all-wheel-drive disconnect seamlessly switches between front-wheel and all-wheel drive. Switching to Sport mode increases engine and transmission performance to maximize vehicle acceleration. This mode utilizes a shift-scheduling innovation that adjusts due to road conditions and driving style.

The 2019 Edge is the first Ford vehicle with this technology, which includes Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert, Lane-Keeping System, automatic high-beam headlamps and rearview camera with a lens washer.
