2016 NISSAN MAXIMA REDESIGNED AND BETTER THAN EVER

Posted by: Casey O'Connell

The Midwest Automotive Media Association hosted its July meeting and luncheon at the CATA headquarters to showcase the 2016 Nissan Maxima. The new Maxima is completely redesigned and better than ever before. Seeking to “defy the 4-door stereotype,” the vehicle is tailored to the customer that expects a sporty driving experience. From the Maxima's detailed design and craftsmanship, to its impressive levels of performance, this car strives to set a new standard for large sedans.

The design base of this 7th generation Maxima resembles a jetfighter-esque concept. You can now shift Maxima’s Drive Mode Selector into “sport” and the throttle response gets sharper, steering gets heavier, shifts get quicker, and the engine roars. The driver also has the option to switch back to “normal mode” for a smoother, more fuel-efficient driving experience. According to Nissan, the "heartbeat" of this vehicle is its 300-HP engine -- 60% of its parts completely re-designed for the new Maxima. This vehicle is also equipped with monotube dampers, which are typically found in high-end sports cars, allowing the driver lower, lighter and tighter dynamic handling.

The innovation doesn’t stop there: the 2016 Maxima also has an all-new Xtronic transmission with dynamic step shifting, wider gear ratio coverage and an adaptive shift controller resulting in a more spirited driving experience as well as increased fuel economy.

The goal for the interior of the 2016 Maxima was for an “energetic flow” as well as a more “driver-centric” interior space. The interior design is also based on this modern fighter jet feel, as the front of the car can be compared to a luxurious cockpit. Everything you need is within reach and easily visible. With a 7-degree rotation of the center console, every button, knob, dial and display is positioned toward the driver for immediate command.

Zero gravity front seats provide the right width and height to conform to the driver’s body and keep them in place and comfortable at all times. In addition, a remote engine start system combined with intelligent climate control and ambient lighting create the perfect driving experience

The innovative and cutting-edge technology connects the driver to their ride and the road like no other sedan has ever done before. The 8-inch multi-touch screen and the Advanced Drive Assist Display makes it easier than ever to get information at a glance. The navigation system now includes a “Swipe to Meter” function where you can send map directions from one screen to the other with just a touch.

The 2016 Maxima also is built with an extra set of eyes to ensure passenger safety. According to an American Automobile Association study, about 328,000 automobile accidents can be attributed to fatigue driving every year in America. That is why Nissan incorporated the Driver Attention Alert feature into the 2016 Maxima. This forward-thinking technology works by monitoring any unusual steering activity such as jerking of the wheel, and alerting you that you might want to take a driving break.
