Honda Civic Type R Highlights Fall MAMA Rally

The Midwest Automotive Media Association (MAMA) hosted its annual Fall Rally, one of two track events organized each year, on Weds. Oct. 5, at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Illinois. Automobile manufacturers made available their newest cars, crossovers and trucks to more than 75 media members on track, street, and off-road courses.
During the midday assembly, Honda's assistant public relations manager Carl Pulley offered an in-depth look at the Civic Type R.
"The new Type R is the ultimate expression of racing," added Pulley about the front-wheel drive, high-performance hatchback. Indeed, the Type R set an all-time lap record for front-drive vehicles on the famed Nürburgring of 7:43:80 -- 7 seconds faster than the previous model.

The Type R's engine type is a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that makes 306 horsepower.
