Women's Day at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show

Posted by: Monica Gostkiewicz

Women's Day was another success during the Chicago Auto Show, where many activities were held throughout the day to appeal to the female demographic.

The morning kicked-off with a networking event moderated by Barbara Rozgonyi and featuring Debi Lilly, Elisa All, Jill Salzman, and Saya Hillman. Following the networking breakfast came the "Honoring Trailblazing Women" presentation to recognize influential Chicagoland women including: Anupy Singla, Candace Jordan, Corri McFadden, Genevieve Thiers, Karen Weigert and Luvvie Ajayi.

Corri McFadden, owner and founder of eDrop-Off, talked about how her company took off. The next speaker was Candace Jordan, social columnist for the Chicago Tribune and style icon. She talked about how she transitioned from a Playboy model to a social columnist at the Chicago Tribune. Next up was Luvvie Ajayi, co-founder of the Red Pump Project, who discussed building an organization from the ground up. Genevieve Thiers, Sittercity founder, was the next to address the crowd. She joked about how her life didn't have balance. "Forget balance," she said. "Just have strategy with insanity."

Following, Anupy Singla, celebrity author and entrepreneur, took the stage and discussed her journey from a little girl in Philadelphia to being a famous author. Last but not least, Karen Weigert, Chicago's chief sustainability officer, motivated the crowd and concluded the presentation.

The cast of I Love Lucy Live On Stage, of Broadway in Chicago, took the stage in the afternoon and entertained attendees well into the afternoon. The cast performed several musical numbers calling back to 1950s America and attendees were treated as members of a "studio audience," watching the filming of an I Love Lucy episode. The actors and actresses truly brought back the feel-good vibe of the hit television program and their performances made it seem like Lucy and Ricky Ricardo were actually attending the 2013 Chicago Auto Show.

Additionally, ChicagonistaLIVE hosted their talk show live from show - hosted by Nancy Loo, MJ Tam, Beth Rosen and Duong Sheahan - prior to Women's Workout & Wellness who lead the crowd in workout moves. The afternoon wrapped up with a musical performance by Miss Lori and a comedy show by Caryn Bark - both local women.
