When Spring Comes Early

Posted by: Jackie Carey

Thanks to Chevy, spring has literally sprung at the Chicago Auto Show.  You might think that this is just a kitschy way of describing the warm fuzzies I get walking around the show floor--you know, bright lights, shiny paint and flashy interiors--but, oh no.  I actually mean that inside McCormick Place flowers are blooming and trees are sprouting buds

Fans of Chevy and of the Chicago Auto Show shouldn’t be surprised to see the revolutionary Volt back on the show floor this year, but one glance toward the brand’s elegantly styled exhibit will have both pleasantly surprised.  This year, the Volt came to Chicago with its very own botanical test track.

Winner of MotorWeek’s coveted “Best of the Year” 2011 Drivers’ Choice Award, the Volt is getting a lot of attention and personally, I love that the vehicle that also won “Best Eco-Friendly” has show up with its very own ecosystem.  With honest-to-god red tulips and budding trees, the message is clear:  the Volt is a great option for drivers with a mind determined to help keep their carbon footprint to a minimum and to do their part in protecting the environment.

The Volt’s test track is really quite a beautiful site amidst a show rich with bells and whistles--but the truly clever thing about this exhibit is the ease in which the track blend the hi-tech features of the volt with the serenity of nature.  Really, when you’re out walking the floor by the show, make sure to stop by Chevy.
