2013 TOYOTA PRIUS v: As the newest entrant in a growing Toyota Prius family of hybrid vehicles, the 2013 Prius v delivers fuel efficiency in a comfortable, mid-size package. Configured as a five-door hatchback, the Prius v, with "v" expressing the vehicle's versatility, is front-wheel drive, powered by an efficient Atkinson cycle, 98 horsepower 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and two high-output motors. The larger motor powers the transaxle and a smaller motor works as the electric power source. Maximum motor drive voltage is 650 volts DC, and total combined horsepower is 134. The Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive is match with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and can provide power either from the engine alone, or the motor alone, or any mix of both. Combined with its five-passenger interior, the Prius v provides a low, wide-opening rear hatch that reveals 34.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, and 67.3 cu. ft. behind the front seats, making it the most spacious dedicated hybrid vehicle on the market. A new feature, Pitch and Bounce Control, works with suspension enhancements to improve ride comfort and control. The top-of-the-line audio is equipped with a new seven-inch Premium HDD navigation system, Entune and JBL. This system offers a split-screen feature that allows for simultaneously displaying navigation and audio information and full iPod video integration. Also available, and a Toyota-first, is a resin Panoramic View Moonroof with power retractable sun shades. Standard wheels are 16 inches in diameter, with 17 inch wheels available as an option.
