2012 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF: For the 2012 model year, the six-generation Volkswagen Golf is offered in both two- and four-door hatchback models with a choice of a 2.5-liter in-line five-cylinder gasoline engine or the 2.0L TDI Clean Diesel. The Golf TDI lineup includes the TDI, TDI with Sunroof and Navigation, and TDI with Tech Package. Even the entry Golf TDI comes equipped with Bluetooth, Cold Weather package, Premium VIII audio 10-spoke 17-inch Salamanca aluminum-alloy wheels. For the 2.5-liter, the models are the 2.5L Golf, 2.5L Golf with Convenience, and 2.5L Golf with Convenience and Sunroof. The 50-state compliant 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder TDI Clean Diesel produces 140 horsepower and an impressive 236 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a standard five-speed manual gearbox. Featuring five-cylinders, the 2.5L engine delivers 170hp and 177 lb. ft. of torque and is linked to a six-speed manual shifter. Both engines are available with the six-speed automatic transmission. Raise that high-lifting tailgate, flip forward the 60/40 split-folding rear seat, and the Golf can swallow an impressive 46 cu. ft. of luggage. Keep the rear seats in place and there's still space for 15.2 cu. ft. of cargo. With global sales now topping 27 million, the Golf continues to be Volkswagen's most successful model ever.
