Volkswagen Routan
2012 VOLKSWAGEN ROUTAN: Having been extensively updated for the 2011 model year, including the introduction of the 3.6-liter V6 boasting a class-leading 283 horsepower and 25 mpg fuel economy, changes to 2012 Routan line-up are minimal. The new V6 is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and front wheel drive. Available in S, SE, SEL and SEL Premium trim levels, the Routan continues as VW’s people hauling, cupholder-rich model that appeals to buyers wanting seven-passenger minivan space and flexibility coupled with Volkswagen design and quality. Routan features large, wide-opening front doors and extra-large, optional power-sliding side doors. There’s also a full-width, high-lifting tailgate, with available remote power-opening. Large interior offers room for flexible three-row seating for seven, and up to 144 cu. ft. of storage space. Volkswagen-tuned suspension and steering provides precise handling and heightened road feel. An impressive list of 40 active and passive safety features, range from standard Electronic Stability Control to available Blind Spot Monitoring and new Rear Cross Path Detection systems. Entertainment options run from touchscreen radio with hard drive/nine-speaker/506-watt audio system to drop-down nine-inch LCD screens.
