2013 TOYOTA MATRIX: Pleased in its present form as a versatile and sporty hatchback, the Toyota Matrix receives minor tweaking for the 2013 model year. Two trim levels are offered, starting with the Matrix L that is fitted with a 132 horsepower 1.8-liter four-cylinder, and paired with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic transmission. If your looking for a little more zip, the Matrix S exclusively features a 2.4L four-cylinder with 158hp, engineered for improved performance. This engine teams to a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic (four-speed with AWD). Yes, front-wheel or all-wheel drive with active torque control are offered, as are 17-inch, five-spoke alloy wheels, a power tilt/slide moonroof with sliding sunshade, AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback capability, XM radio (includes 90-day trial subscription), Bluetooth, and USB port with iPod connectivity. The Matrix L now comes standard with six speakers, and both models provide improved audio system with hands free capability. The 60/40 split folding rear seat includes a center-position headrest, and when folded down, creates a respectable 61.5 cu. ft. of room to haul family heirlooms. There are seven exterior colors, including Barcelona Red metallic and Spruce mica, as well as two interior fabric color choices, Ash and Dark Charcoal. For a more personal touch, a Sport Package added to the Matrix L and Matrix S contain most of the above features and throws in TRD 19-inch five-spoke wheels and roof rack.
