2013 BMW 5 SERIES: A fact that startles some showgoers is that the BMW 5 Series has been in production for four decades, making incredible technological improvements over the years to become the epitome of modern design and driving pleasure. With an array of models, engines and platform choices, the sixth generation 5 Series is available in sedan and hatchback, with four- or five-passenger seating arrangements, and in three trim levels, all featuring TwinPower Turbo technology. The 528i comes with a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder (replacing the straight-six engine) that develops 240 horsepower. Mid-range, the 535i houses a 3.0L inline six-cylinder creating 300hp, while the top-tier 550i generates 400hp from the 4.4L V-8.. A six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic are available, as is rear-wheel drive and for those who face four-season commutes, there's BMW optional xDrive (all-wheel drive). Auto Start/Stop is standard on the 2013 528i and 535i. Depending on the model, the 5 Series offers four- or five-passenger seating, and 14.0 cu. ft. of luggage room in the sedan, and up to 63.0 on the hatchback with rear seats down. Featuring the longest wheelbase in the segment, a long and sleek hood, short overhangs, and a coupe-like roofline, the new BMW 5 Series is created for the performance minded executive. There are 18 exterior colors, including Tasman Green metallic and Alpine White. Without reservation, the 2013 BMW 5 Series is one of the top premium midsize automobiles in the world.
