2013 FORD ESCAPE: Customers globally will start seeing the all-new 2013 Ford Escape beginning next year. But, those attending the 2012 Chicago Auto Show, will see and get to examine production models of Ford’s newest, smarter Escape sport utility vehicle. Escape is America’s best-selling SUV, and to keep that crown, the 2013 Escape wears a sleek new design with hi-tech five-passenger cabin, and offers buyer’s a choice from a trio of four-cylinder engines and front-wheel or Ford Intelligent four-wheel drive systems. The 2.5-liter I4 provides 168 horsepower, 167 lb. ft. of torque and 1,500 lb towing capacity. Two EcoBoost I4 engines, a 1.6L (173hp/177lb ft) and 2.0L (237hp/250lb ft) are available, with 2,000 and 3,500 lb tow ratings. All engine variations are fitted with standard six-speed automatic transmissions, and versatile vehicle features include new hands-free liftgate with motion-sensing technology similar to video games’ and upgraded MyFord Touch system that makes connecting with digital devices on the go even easier. Stowing and towing are even easier thanks to a low liftover height of 27 inches, and cargo volume that surpasses the outgoing Escape – with 34.3 cu. ft. behind the second row and 68.1 cu. ft. of space behind the first row.
