Cadillac Ciel concept
CADILLAC CIEL CONCEPT: Over the decades, Cadillac has exhibited its latest concept vehicle for public viewing at the annual Chicago Auto Show (CAS). Keeping the tradition alive, is the appearance of the Cadillac Ciel “dream car” at the 2012 CAS. Pronounced, “C-L,” the French translation for sky, Ciel is a four-passenger, four–door convertible, developed at GM North Hollywood Design Center. Their goal was to capture and express Cadillac’s historical grandeur, as well as a celebration of open-air motoring with 21st century technologies. Finished in a Cabernet red wine color and rolling on 22-inch rims and tires, the Ciel is barely 50-inches high, but stretches 19-feet in length. Powering the futuristic Caddie is a twin-turbocharged version of the 3.6-liter Direct Injection V6 engine, paired with a hybrid system using lithium-ion battery technology and a new hybrid transmission with low-speed all-electric drive. The powertrain’s combined output is 425 horsepower and 430 lb. ft. of torque to the all-wheel drive system. Within the comfortable and elegant Ciel cockpit, the Italian Olive wood used came from a single fallen tree. Interior details include controlled aromatherapy, a pull-out cashmere blanket and small humidor, stocked with a few good cigars
