2013 PORSCHE BOXSTER: Porsche's new generation of mid-engine sports cars are on display at the Chicago Auto Show, with the release of the 2013 Porsche Boxster. Featuring a completely revamped chassis and lightweight design bodies, the Boxster and Boxster S are more fuel-efficient, faster and more agile. Both editions have considerably lower weight, longer wheelbase, wider track and larger wheels that significantly enhance the driving dynamics. Notice the stylish indentation in the door guiding your eye to the striking intake in the rear side section. Upfront are large lateral radiator openings and newly redeveloped halogen or Bi-Xenon headlights. Looking at the redesigned rear end, you'll see all LED techno taillights, and there is no longer any convertible-top compartment lid. Boxster continues with flat-six cylinder engines, in two performance sizes, starting with the entry-level 2.7 litre displacement that delivers 265 horsepower - ten hp more than its predecessor. Top-tier Boxster S is fitted with a 3.4L engine that produces 315 hp - five hp more than before. Consumers have a choice of the stock six-speed manual or optional seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) (automatic) gearbox. The '13 Boxster retains it's unique oval tailpipe, white the Boxster S has a twin-flow double tailpipe. For serious drivers, there is the optional Sport Chrono package that allows for setting up the car for driving comfort in everyday use and for the weekend race circuits.
