Toyota Prius c
2013 TOYOTA PRIUS c:
Now in its second year of production, the Toyota Prius c is on display during the 105th edition of the Chicago Auto Show. As the latest team member of the growing Toyota Prius family, the 2013 Prius c five-door hatchback introduces Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive to the subcompact segment. The Prius c joins the third generation Prius Liftback, the versatile new Prius v and the Prius Plug-in Hybrid. For the record, the letter "c" represents "city" in the Prius c name. Interior upgrades for 2013 add a standard SoftTex-trimmed steering wheel on the Prius c Four, and a black SoftTex dash panel on Prius c Two and Three models, matching the dash of the premium Prius c Four. The Prius c relies on a 1.5 liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an Atkinson cycle to increase efficiency. This engine produces 73 horsepower, plus the electric motor within a continuously variable transaxle (CVT) contributes to a total hybrid system output of 99hp. Designed to function as an urban-friendly vehicle with an engaging driving experience, hatchback utility and a city fuel economy rating of 53 mpg, Prius c offers the highest city mpg rating of any vehicle without a plug. Under certain conditions, the Prius c can be driven solely by electric power for a short distance below 25 mph. By locating the battery and fuel tank below the rear seat, this hatchback is able to offer 17.1 cu. ft. cargo room.
