Mazda MX-5 Spyder Concept
MAZDA MX-5 SPYDER CONCEPT: Developed by MNAO Design (Mazda North American Operations –Design), the one-off Mazda MX-5 Spyder concept vehicle is a surprise guest on display at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. Painted “Stratosphere White Tri-Coat,” the lightweight weekend racer wears a broad grenadine-red canvas convertible top by Haartz Corp. that spreads-out from the windscreen to the edge of the trunk lid. Replicating the Porsche Carrera GT, the MX-5 Spyder Concept features dual aero humps behind the two-seat cockpit, and the prototype Mazda rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels finished in gunmetal metallic gray. Handcrafted interior uses Spinneybeck Vege-tanned saddle leather in Black Stallion and Edelman Royal Suede inserts in Coal Ash, with Aqua leather in (White) North Sea accents. Spider Silk gray metallic floor mats are by Starwest. Mechanical details include an MX-5 engine fitted with Racing Beat header, intake and exhaust muffler, and runs on BP Iso-Butanol fuel. The stock suspension wears Mazdaspeed coil over kit; brakes by Brembo and a Braille-brand Li-ion battery.
