BMW 2014 Z4 Roadster
2014 BMW Z4 ROADSTER: Coming to BMW dealerships in spring 2013, but on display Feb.9-18 at the 105th edition of the Chicago Auto Show, is the 2014 BMW Z4 Roadster - an updated version of the legendary BMW Z1 from 1987. Designers continued the sweeping hood, long wheelbase, low beltline and low-slung rear end. The low seating position just ahead of the rear axle gives the driver and passenger a particularly intense experience of being "part of the car." For 2014, the BMW Z4 will be available in the US with a choice of powerplants to please most sun worshipers. Cruisers will want the BWM Z4 sDrive28i, with a 240 horsepower twin power turbo 2.0 liter four-cylinder. It can be ordered with the six speed manual gearbox or eight-speed automatic transmission. The next level is the Z4 sDrive35i that delivers a 300hp twin power turbo 3.0L inline six-cylinder, available with the six-speed manual or seven-speed DCT. At the top is the Z4 sDrive35is equipped with a higher-output version of BMW's venerable N54 producing 335hp and the 7-speed DCT, which will race from 0-to-60 mph in just 4.8 seconds without a penalty to the miles per gallon rating. Lowering and raising the folding hardtop takes a mere 19 seconds, even at speeds up to 25 mph. For greater sex appeal, buyers can opt for the M Sport Package that adds restyled bumpers, unique cabin trim and sportier bucket seats.
