Ford Focus Electric
2013 FORD FOCUS ELECTRIC: Ford's 2013 Focus Electric is now officially America's most fuel-efficient five-passenger car with a certified 110 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) city rating and 99 MPGe on the highway. Focus Electric is the flagship of Ford's transformed lineup that features 10 vehicles with leading fuel economy, all on display at the Chicago Auto Show. The '13 Focus Electric benefits from being based on the fuel version of Ford's global C-segment car, and shares many of the same premium components and features as its gasoline-powered counterpart. This state-of-the-art front-wheel drive vehicle receives power from an advanced 23kWh liquid-cooled, high-voltage lithium-ion battery system that seamlessly works with the single-speed transmission. That set-up gives you a best-in-class range of up to 76 miles on each charge, and engineered to help reduce energy loss and heat generation. The regenerating braking captures over 90% of energy lost through friction brakes, then recycles energy to recharge battery and helps to achieve maximum energy efficiency. Focus Electric features an advanced charging system that enables the car's battery to fully recharge in four hours - using available 240-volt outlets that can be installed in residential garages. To cut charging costs at home, this model offers an innovating charging feature powered by Microsoft that helps U.S. owners to charge their vehicles at the cheapest utility rates. Eco-consciousness continues in the five-passenger cabin with seat fabric made from 100% recycled materials, with cushions composed of bio-based foam derived from plant seed oils. Handsome interior has ambient lighting with seven switchable colors, standard Sony audio system, HD radio and iTunes tagging. There is a total of 13.2 cu. ft. of luggage room in the tailored trunk.
