Ford Explorer
2013 FORD EXPLORER:
Built at Ford's Chicago assembly plant, the Explorer SUV enters the 2013 model year available in three trim levels, Base, XLT and the Limited series. The full-size Explorer is the first Ford model in North America to offer the all-new 2.0 liter EcoBoost four-cylinder. This engine is direct-injected, turbocharged and intercooled, enabling it to deliver an impressive 240 horsepower to the rear wheels. Explorer's standard engine is a 3.5L Ti-VCT V-6 dispensing 290hp. Both engines come equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission, and the V-6 models are also available with intelligent 4WD system that adds terrain management. New features that provide comfort and convenience is the enhanced voice-activated communications and entertainment system, HD radio with iTunes tagging and voice-activated navigation. Other goodies are MyFord Touch driver connect technology, heated steering wheel, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, multi-contour seats and HID auto high-beam. Ford bills its Explorer as the first to install inflatable outboard rear seat belts, and now further bolsters its safety parcel with knee airbags for the front passenger. In addition, an adaptable interior package has clever storage solutions, and three rows of flexible seating for six-or seven-passengers. Impressive cargo volume numbers for all the family gear include 21.0 cu. ft. in back of the third row seating, a decent 43.8 cu. ft. behind middle row, and a spacious 80.7 cu. ft. behind first row when third and middle seat are down.
