Volkswagen Routan
2010 VOLKSWAGEN ROUTAN: Stefan Jacoby, President/CEO Volkswagen Group of America, Inc., unveiled the all-new Routan three-row, 7-passenger minivan during the 2008 Chicago Auto Show. VW says the name Routan is derived from the word “route” and the suffix “-an” and that may well be true. But VW’s small van sold elsewhere around the world is the Touran, so perhaps it is a play on words. For 2010 there are more trim levels packaged with options. This front-wheel-drive minivan is quiet and powerful and comes standard with a 3.8-liter, 197 horsepower V-6 engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. A 4-liter, 253-hp, single overhead cam V-6 is an optional engine mated to the same transmission. With the convenience of a traditional minivan, cargo space expands to 83 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded flat.
