Toyota Prius
2010 TOYOTA PRIUS: Celebrated as the benchmark for cars of the future, the 2010 Toyota Prius marks the 3rd-generation of the midsize hybrid. The 5-passenger model is quieter, roomier, and equipped with advanced standard and available features such as a moonroof with solar panels. A larger and more powerful 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle, 4-cylinder engine will propel the new Prius. Contrary to conventional wisdom, the larger engine actually helps improve highway mileage, with a 50-mile-per gallon rating. As a “full” hybrid, the front-wheel-drive Prius can run on engine alone, battery alone, or a combination of both. Combined gasoline engine and electric motor Hybrid system is a net 134 horsepower, mated to an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission.
