Ford Mustang
2011 FORD MUSTANG: Rolled out last spring, it is time for the 2010 Ford Mustang to depart to make room for the revised 2011 version. For once the big news is not at the muscle end of the spectrum. A new aluminum Duretec DOHC 3.7 liter V-6 rated at 305 hp ends the reign of the vintage V-6 that powered base Mustangs for many a year. Since the number 6 is big for 2011, 6-speed manual and automatics combine with a newly standard limited slip differential to help handling and traction, even in Chicago’s winters. Also on board for 2011 are integrated spotter mirrors, message center, MyKey programmable key system and a universal garage door opener. Models include the base Mustang series, GT with a 325-hp 4.6 liter V-8 standard and Shelby GT500, which relies on a 540-hp supercharged 5.4 liter V-8 rated at 540 horses. Each Mustang series is available in coupe and convertible.
