Saab 9-3X
2010 SAAB 9-3X: Due its recent sale, Saab has chosen not to display at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show. For those who are not ready to adjust to a SUV, but want all wheel traction, Saab offers the 9-3X for 2010. The SportCombi (wagon to us plain folks) features Saab’s XWD system that continually distributes engine torque between the front and rear wheels as required for optimum grip. Also helping out with the capabilities is raising the platform 1.4 inches and the addition of newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels, for greater ground clearance. Other additions include new front and rear bumpers, skid panels, roof rails, front fog lights and twin round exhaust outlets. The exhaust comes from the 2.0 liter 210-hp turbo 4, which connects to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, whichever you want. With the rear seat up, rear cargo volume is 22.7 cubic feet. With it down, it grows to 72.3. The future direction of Saab is apparently secured with the sale to Dutch manufacturer Spyker Cars NV, and the 9-3X is available from Chicago area Saab dealers.
