Volkswagen Atlas Weekender Edition: The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas Weekender Edition made its world debut at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show.
The Weekender edition piggybacks off the SEL Premium model, meaning it has the 3.6-liter V6 that makes 236 horsepower. The key addition of the Weekender model is a pop-up roof, and the cargo area can also expand to 17.7 cubic feet. There are also carrier bars and a cargo divider to keep things organized. There's also a cargo cover, deflectors for the windows and hood, a heavy-duty trunk liner, all-weather floor mats, wheel locks and splashguards/
Introduced last fall, the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas is an all-new SUV that will seat seven passengers. Offering a choice of engines and available all-wheel drive, the Atlas will compete with the Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer, and Honda Pilot.
The Atlas offers an engine choice between a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 238 horsepower and a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 280 horsepower. Both will pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and V6 models will be available with all-wheel drive. The Weekender is V6 only.
Available features across the lineup will include a customizable gauge cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, and a premium audio system.
Available safety features will include forward-collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, park assist, post-collision braking system, and a standard suite of airbags.
The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas will go on sale this spring.
