2017 Toyota Corolla: The 2017 Toyota Corolla marks the continuation of one of the longest-running nameplates in the automotive industry with its 50th birthday this year. The Corolla is a four-door, five-seat compact car that competes with the Ford Focus, Honda Civic, and Mazda 3. In honor of its 50th birthday, Toyota has given the Corolla freshened looks inside and new, new standard safety equipment, and a limited edition package.The Corolla has two engines: A 1.8-liter four-cylinder that makes 132 horsepower and a 1.8-liter four-cylinder that makes 140 horsepower. The former is available with either a six-speed manual or a continuously-variable automatic transmission (CVT) and the latter solely with a CVT. The Corolla is front-wheel drive and has EPA-estimated fuel economy is 27 mpg city and 35 mpg highway for the six-speed manual, 28/36 for the CVT with 16-inch wheels (28/35 with 17-inch wheels) and 30/40 for the more-powerful four-cylinder, when equipped with 15-inch wheels (29/38 with 16-inch wheels).Offered in L, LE, LE Eco, SE, XSE, and XLE trims, the Corolla offers such features as a rear spoiler, power moonroof, air conditioning, cruise control, USB port, keyless entry, Bluetooth, satellite radio, navigation, infotainment system with app suite, and heated front seats.Available safety features include lane-departure alert, pre-collision system, radar cruise control, stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes, rear-view camera, and dual-front, front-knee, passenger-seat cushion, front-side and side-curtain airbags.The 2017 Toyota Corolla has a base price of $18,500, not including destination or delivery fees.
