2017 Subaru Legacy: The 2017 Subaru Legacy is the brand's entrant in the mid-size class, competing in a crowded segment against vehicles like the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, and Toyota Camry. The Legacy is mostly unchanged for 2017, but it does add a Sport package for 2.5i models that includes exclusive content and unique styling. The Legacy also provides the base for the Outback wagon, which is covered separately.
Two engines are offered on the Legacy: A 2.5-liter horizontally-opposed four-cylinder that makes 175 horsepower and a 3.6-liter horizontally-opposed six-cylinder engine that makes 256 horsepower. Both pair with a continuously-variable automatic transmission. EPA-estimated fuel economy is listed at 25 mpg city and 34 mpg highway for the 2.5-liter engine and 20/28 for the 3.6. The Legacy is all-wheel drive.
The Legacy is offered in 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Sport, 2.5i Limited, and 3.6R Limited trims. Available features include power moonroof, Pandora internet streaming radio, Bluetooth, satellite radio, USB, and navigation.
Available safety features include reverse automatic braking, blind-spot detection, lane-change assist, and dual-front, front-side, front-seat-cushion, and side-curtain airbags.
The 2017 Subaru Legacy has a base price of $21,995, not including dealer and destination fees.
