2017 KIA SPORTAGE: Drawing a lot of attention in the Kia exhibit at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show is the all-new 2017 Kia Sportage compact crossover vehicle. This is the fourth-generation Sportage and available in Sportage LX, EX, and SX Turbo trim levels. An 181-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is standard on the LX and EX while the 241-hp 2.0L turbocharged four comes with the SX Turbo package. All engines are mated with six-speed electronically controlled Sportmatic automatic transmissions, and buyers have a choice between front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. Either set-up permits the Sportage to tow up to 1,650-lbs, or 2,000-lbs when equipped with the available trailer brakes. New technologies for safer travels include autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning system, blind spot detection with lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert. Kia designers wrapped stunning contemporary body around a stiffer and more spacious five-passenger cabin. The 2017 Sportage is the first Kia to offer UVO3 that contains 14 telematics services, 8 GB of music storage, access to onscreen apps and Wi-Fi tethering capability - all free of charge. An available Premium package adds ventilated front seats, navigation that includes SiriusXM Traffic, leather-trimmed seats, panoramic sunroof, smart key with push-button start, and power-folding outside mirrors. Available cargo volume behind the second row is listed at 30.7-cu.ft., and when the 60/40 split-folding rear seat is down, Sportage can haul up to 60.1 cu. ft. of cargo. For the record, Sportage is Kia's longest-running nameplate.
