2017 BMW i3: The 2017 BMW i3 is one of the most unique vehicles on the market. This electric vehicle with available range-extending gasoline engine is primarily sold as a "city car," and it has little in the way of direct competition, save perhaps the Chevrolet Volt and new all-electric Chevrolet Bolt.
All models are driven by an electric motor that is powered by a 33-kWh battery that can be charged in three-and-a-half hours with the proper charger. A range-extending two-cylinder gasoline engine is available, giving the i3 up to 150 miles of total range. Opt for the pure EV and you'll see 124 MPGe, while the range-extended version clocks in at 117.
Available features include navigation system, USB port, Bluetooth, BMW's iDrive infotainment system, premium audio, dynamic cruise control, satellite radio, an onboard information computer, tilt/telescope steering wheel, push-button start, rear park distance control, front airbags, front-side airbags, electric steering, stability control and traction control.
Base price for the 2017 BMW i3 is $43,395, including the $995 destination fee, and $47,425 for the range-extended version, again including the $995 destination fee.
