2016 VOLKSWAGEN TOUAREG: As Volkswagen flagship sport utility vehicle, the 2016 Touareg lineup adds minor content changes to last year's major interior and exterior facelift. This is the second-generation Touareg, and for 2016, the SUV is offered in Touareg V6 and Touareg TDI configurations - each with standard all-wheel drive. Available new trim levels include Touareg Sport, Sport w/Technology, Lux and Executive V6. Buyers have their choice between the 240-horsepower turbodiesel 3.0-liter V-6 and the 3.6L V-6 with a healthy 280-hp. Both powerplants come with standard equipped eight-speed automatic transmission. Major news is that the price reduction of about $2,000 across the lineup, yet new features add 21-in. wheels, 14-way power adjustable ventilated seats, forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking and lane departure warning/assist. A new driver assistance package includes a park pilot distance control system. Another feature on the Executive trim is the area view 360° exterior camera system that utilizes four cameras (in the rear hatch, the door mirrors, and the radiator grille). Entering and exiting the Touareg is easy, and the five passengers travel in a premium layout accented by chrome and wood trim. When required, there is a generous 34.5-cu.ft. of cargo room with rear seat backs folded.
