2016 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT: You'll be able to spot the updated 2016 Passat midsize four-door sedan from the previous generation by its striking new front grille, hood, fenders, bumpers, trunk lid and available LED headlights and taillamps. The 2016 Passat is front-wheel drive and available with a choice of two engines. First, the 1.8-liter turbocharged and direct-injection TSI four-cylinder develops 170-horsepower. Those wanting more power can opt for the 3.6L VR6 engine that pumps out 280-hp. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard on both. A total of five main trim levels include the Passat S, R-Line, SE, SEL and SEL Premium. Once inside the five-passenger cabin, you will experience an updated instrument panel, a more premium interior and a full suite of infotainment and driver assistance features. Passat is loaded with standard features counting automatic dual-zone climate control and Bluetooth technology. There is no shortage of entertainment system options either, especially with the latest addition of the Fender Premium audio system. Depending on trim-level, available features include a sunroof, a 6.3-in. touchscreen, Car-Net/smartphone integration, navigation system, blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert. With best-in-class rear legroom, the Passat's cabin seats five-passengers and offers 15.9 cu. ft. of luggage room in the trunk. The 60/40 rear seatbacks fold down for additional cargo room. Note, the Passat is designed in Germany and built in Chattanooga, Tenn.
