2016 TOYOTA YARIS: Toyota's 2016 Yaris subcompact can be ordered in three-door or five-door liftback configurations, and is offered in entry-level L and value-packaged LE editions. The sport-tuned SE comes exclusively in the five-door body. All models are powered by a 106-horsepower 1.5-liter, 16-valve four-cylinder DOHC engine. Buyers have a choice of a four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission or the smooth-shifting five-speed manual gearbox to help direct power to the front wheels. With its low windshield angle, short overhangs and wheels pushed out to the corners, the Yaris is a smooth-riding machine. Like all Toyota vehicles, the '16 Yaris includes a safety system which contains vehicle stability control, smart stop technology, brake assist and traction control. Yaris is nimble and easy to park on crowded city streets thanks to front MacPherson-strut and rear torsion-beam suspension systems. A total of eight exterior colors includes paint shades with names like Blue Streak metallic and Barcelona Red with Black Sand Pearl roof. Every Yaris comes with the tech audio package as standard equipment. The full audio setup contains a standard AM/FM/CD player, MP3 and WMA playback compatibility, HD radio, six speakers, iPod connectivity, hands-free phone capability, Bluetooth music streaming wireless technology, and connectivity via USB and auxiliary ports. Upgraded, five-passenger interiors offer a 60/40 split fold-down rear seat. The luggage compartment area has been lengthened by 5.7 inches and widened by 2.1 in., to increase cargo volume by 68 percent for up to 15.3-cu. ft.in the three-door and 15.6-cu.ft of room for gym gear or groceries in the five-door model.
