2016 Toyota RAV4

2016 TOYOTA RAV4: For 2016, the Toyota RAV4 crossover SUV wears a sleeker, more dynamic exterior styling, and buyers will be enjoying more power and their choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive. Exclusive powerplant offered on the '16 RAV4 is a 176-horsepower, double-overhead-cam 2.5- liter four-cylinder that is linked with a fuel-efficient six-speed transmission with Sequential Shift. To further enhance mileage, the fifth and sixth gears are overdrives. The RAV4 Hybrid combines output from a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine and a small high-torque electric motor through its unique transaxle. The RAV4 Hybrid delivers a jolt of performance from a combined 194 system horsepower. The system varies power between the gas engine and electric motor, or combines both as needed, all seamlessly. Offered in RAV4 LE, XLE, Limited and the new SE trim levels; the RAV4 is designed with two-row seating for five in the stylish cabin. When properly equipped, the RAV4 has a 1,500-lbs maximum towing capacity. With cutting edge safety technologies, the RAV4 comes equipped with a pre-collision system (with forward collision warning and automatic emergency brake), lane departure alert, pedestrian pre-collision system and dynamic radar cruise control. In addition to TSS, RAV4 LE gas and XLE gas and hybrid models will feature a standard blind spot mirror and the SE gas and Limited gas and hybrid grades have a standard blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert. A major body change to the RAV4 is the switch from its traditional side-hinged rear door to a roof-hinged liftgate with spare tire stored under the cargo floor. The cargo area is deeper, larger and easier to access than in than earlier generations. There is 38.4 cu. ft. of cargo capacity behind the rear seats, and when the rear seatbacks are folded flat, the RAV4 has a maximum cargo capacity of 73.4 cu. ft. (70.6 cu. ft. for Hybrid).
