2016 RAM PROMASTER: On display at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show is the Ram ProMaster, which is a purpose-built, highly customizable cargo van available in two roof heights, three wheelbases, and four body lengths. The model lineup includes the Promaster 1500, 2500 and 3500 van bodies and as 2500 and 3500 chassis cab cutaway. Boasting an impressive best-in-class payload capacity the Promaster can haul up to 5,145 pounds and provide a maximum towing capacity up to 5,100 pounds. The gross combined weight rating for the 280-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 is 11,500 pounds and 12,500 pounds for the 174-horsepower 3.0-liter four-cylinder EcoDiesel. Depending on engine choice, there is the six-speed automatic transmission and an electronically controlled six-speed automated manual gearbox. The front of the new ProMaster is identified by visually durable body lines, a broad wraparound bumper and twin-reflector headlamp clusters. Its cab-forward, short dash-to-front-axle design pushes the nose inward and the headlamps upward. New for 2016, the Promaster adds window availability to the high roof, extended configurations. This design provides higher passenger seating positions and better visibility. A stylish chrome grille adds an upscale appearance to the 2016 models with the Premium appearance package, and the 20-amp auxiliary switches on the instrument panel and second battery prep package enable upfitters to easily adapt a variety of conversions. Its unibody frame architecture makes it significantly lighter than the competition. Chicago Auto Show Fact: During media days for the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Fred Diaz, President, and CEO of the Ram Truck Brand and Chrysler de Mexico debuted the all-new 2014 Ram ProMaster.
