2016 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER SPORT: Appearing for the first time at the Chicago Auto Show is the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport for 2016. The ES model is fitted with a 148- horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine equipped with Mitsubishi's advanced variable valve-timing technology. Powering the Outlander Sport ES, SE, SEL & GT models is the larger displacement 2.4L four-cylinder engine that produces 168-horsepower. While a crisp-shifting five-speed manual transmission is included on the ES two-wheel model, a high-tech continuously variable transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters is also available as is four-wheel drive. The Sport SE comes standard with the CVT and can be ordered with either two-wheel or driver-selected, electronically-controlled four-wheel drive systems. With composed handling, a comfortable ride and roomy seating for five adults, the sport cabin includes new steering wheel, new seat fabrics, 6.1-in. display audio system, noise reduction and improved high-performance speakers, auto-dimming rearview mirror with Homelink and a new light gray interior color. When rear seating is folded flat, the Outlander Sport offers up to 49.5 cubic feet of cargo carrying capacity. Among the premium, options is a panoramic glass roof, 40GB HDD navigation with music server and real-time traffic, and rearview camera system. The color pallet includes Labrador Black, Octane Blue, Mercury Gray and Rally Red Pearl. Added this year are three new paint colors: Cool Silver, Diamond White Pearl, and Quartz Brown. Produced in the Normal, IL facility, the Outlander Sport is not only supplied to Mitsubishi dealers in the US but also shipped to foreign markets.
