2016 Mercedes-Benz S

2016 MERCEDES-BENZ S-CLASS: Last year, Mercedes-Benz introduced the new-generation S-Class Sedan, Coupe, and Cabriolet models, each with exclusive design and cutting-edge technologies. The '16 Mercedes-Benz S550 4Matic features a 4.7-liter V-8 that increases horsepower rating to 449-hp. Stepping-up is the 5.5L V-8 with 577-hp and the mighty 621-hp 6.0L V-12, each equipped with Bi-turbos. All powertrains include seven-speed automatics, and AMG levels add SpeedShift MCT and SpeedShift Plus. For 2016, the model lineup contains the S550, S500e, S63 AMG, S600, S65 AMG trim levels. The '16 S-Class variants provide an ultra- peaceful five-passenger cabin space and a tailored 16.4-cu.ft. trunk compartment. Replacing the physical dash keypad is a new touchpad with swiping/menu/presets logic. The two 12.3-in. high-resolution TFT color displays and 8.3 formats, form the information center. Using the enhanced voice control system, the driver can enter complete addresses in one shot, and the telephone and audio systems can also be voice-controlled. Also available is the split view dual-content viewing screen, an active lane keeping assist and active blind spot assist with automatic brake intervention and night view assist plus with pedestrian detection. In the darkness, the optional night view assist projects invisible infrared beams and reads them with a special camera. Combined with thermal imaging, the system can display a clearer, supplemental real-time view of the road ahead in the digital instrument cluster, either full-time or automatically when danger is detected. Note that the S-Class Coupe is a pillarless hardtop, which is a rarity in today's new car market. While at the Chicago Auto Show, take a look at the unique Swarovski crystal headlamps with 47 crystals, 17 angular crystals and 30 round-shaped crystals form the turn indicator lamps.
