2016 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE: Since it was introduced in 1992, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has become the company's top-selling model. For 2016, Jeep has redefined its premium four-door sport utility vehicle, making it more fuel-efficient and luxurious than ever. There are five trim levels beginning with the Grand Cherokee Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit, and SRT. Big news for 2016 is all gas V-6 and 5.7-liter V-8 Grand Cherokee models will receive improved fuel efficiency due to electric power steering, decreased tire rolling resistance and weight reductions with aluminum suspension. Also new for 2016, the Pentastar 3.6L V-6 engine in the Grand Cherokee adds engine stop-start to improve fuel economy and efficiency, and the engine receives a five horsepower bump to 295. The available 5.7L V-8 packs 360-hp with a best-in-class towing capacity of 7,400 pounds. Standard in the Grand Cherokee SRT is the 6.4L V-8 that pumps out an incredible 475-hp, a delivers 0-to-60 mph acceleration in 4.8 seconds, 0-100-0 mph in 16.3 seconds, quarter mile in the mid-13 second range and a top speed of 160 mph. All Grand Cherokee engines come mated with a standard eight-speed automatic transmission. Along with rear-wheel drive, consumers have a choice of available 4x4 systems (Quadra-Lift, Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II), an available Quadra-Lift air suspension and a Selec-Terrain traction management system. Interior luxury for the five-passenger vehicle is achieved with premium amenities including Natura leather, exotic open-pore wood trim and new color offerings. Maximum cargo room when second-row seating is lowered is a healthy 68.3 cu. ft. The power rear liftgate is standard or available on all 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee models. Additional technologies offered number more than 60, including front park assist, forward collision warning with crash mitigation systems.
