2016 FORD EXPEDITION: The Ford Expedition full-size utility vehicle receives minor tweaking for 2016 that includes new exterior colors and SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system. Built in Louisville, KY, the Expedition is offered in four trim levels: XLT, Limited, King Ranch, and the top-of-the-line Platinum. An extended length (EL) version of each is also available. The single engine offered in Expedition in North America is the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 that generates 365-horsepower and a healthy 420 lb.-ft. of torque for best-in-class towing of up to 9,200 pounds. The V-6 is linked to a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. The standard Expedition has three rows of seats and up to 108.3-cu. ft. of cargo space, and sits on an 119-inch wheelbase, making it a little more than 6 inches longer than Ford Explorer. A longer-wheelbase version - 131 inches - has three rows of seats and best-in-class maximum cargo space of 130.8 cubic feet. The independent rear suspension allows for the one-touch power fold-flat third row bench seat and low load floor height. The expedition also offers an available power liftgate for easier loading and unloading, a capless fuel-filling system, keyless entry and programmable system that limits top speed and audio volume control (think teenage drivers). A suite of sensors detects 46 unique bodies, steering and braking inputs to automatically adjust damping in milliseconds and help control wheel and body motions so passengers experience a comfortable ride. New exterior colors for 2016 include Shadow Black and Race Red for fleets.
