2016 FORD EDGE: For 2016, the second-generation Ford Edge crossover sport utility vehicle is slightly longer and taller than its predecessor, and the wheelbase increased by 1.0 inch, to 112.2 inches. Available with three engines in four series, including a Sport offering, the '16 Edge delivers power and technology in a wide range of choices. Edge is offered in front wheel or all-wheel drive configurations, and three engine options: 245-horsepower twin-scroll 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, 300-hp EcoBoost 2.7L V-6 and normally aspirated 3.5L V-6. All are mated with dual output exhaust and a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. The Edge is the first Ford product to feature the company's adaptive steering technology, which makes the vehicle easier to maneuver and more fun to drive. To further improve the quietness in the five-passenger interior, expandable foam baffles are used in the fenders and D-pillars while a thicker windshield with acoustic laminated glass helps decrease wind noise. The 20-inch tire available on Sport and Titanium trim levels are a full 2 decibels quieter - reducing unpleasant road noises often associated with larger wheels. Available driver-assist technologies include adaptive steering system, enhanced active park assist, adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support, the 180-degree front camera with washer, glove box-mounted airbag system, inflatable rear safety belts and hands-free liftgate. Backup camera is available. With rear seats down, the 2016 Edge increases the cargo room from 68.9- to 73.4-cu. ft.
