The 2016 Suburban represents the 80th anniversary and 12th generation of the original SUV. A more-efficient, direct-injected EcoTec 3 5.3-liter V-8 develops 355-horsepower and is matched with a Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic that includes tap shift control, tow/haul mode and auto grade braking.  For this model year, consumers have their choice of the LS, LT and LTZ trim levels. Fresh styling and improved aerodynamic advances the Suburban's design, and interesting, not a single exterior sheet panel or lighting element is shared with Chevy's full-size pickups. Projector-beam headlamps flank the Chevrolet-signature dual-port grille - chrome on all models - and sweep into the front fenders. High-intensity discharge headlamps and light-emitting diode daytime running lamps are included on the uplevel LTZ model. Eighteen-inch standard wheels that are a half-inch wider, reducing tire flex for improved cornering performance, and there are 20- and 22-inch wheels available. Also new for 2016, a head-up display is available with an eight-inch-diagonal configurable multicolor display, which is offered on LTZ models. Inside, three rows of seating are standard on all models. There is an optional rear-seat entertainment system that adds dual screens and Blu-ray DVD player. The passenger cabin is offered in four color combinations that include Jet Black, Cocoa/Dune, Jet Black/Dark Ash and Cocoa/Mahogany.  Interior configurations can seat six- to nine passengers, and behind the first-row seats, Suburban offers up to 137.4 cubic feet of cargo room. Fold-flat second- and third-row seats enhance the cargo convenience - including an available power-folding feature.
