2015 VOLKSWAGEN TOUAREG: During the 107th annual Chicago Auto Show, which takes place between February 14-22, 2015, those who like odd model names should check out the Volkswagen exhibit. That’s where you’ll find the Touareg, which is named after the Tuareg people, a Berber-speaking tribe that resides in North Africa. The Touareg is restyled for 2015, with a refreshed exterior front and rear. New for 2015 are driver’s assist features like adaptive cruise control, lane assist, side assist, front assist, and automatic post-collision braking system (applies the brakes automatically during a collision to prevent further collisions and damage). There are new 18-, 19-, and 20-inch wheel designs, a supercharged hybrid powertrain, and standard bi-xenon headlights and LED rear taillights. All-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission are standard, and there are three powertrain choices. Option one is a 3.6-liter V-6 that makes 280 horsepower. Option two is a 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 diesel that makes 240 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. The third option is a hybrid powertrain that pairs a 333-horsepower 3.0-liter V-6 with a 47-horsepower electric motor for a system horsepower of 380 and a torque rating of 428 lb-ft. Available features include navigation, an 8-inch touch screen that can play back DVDs/CDs/MP3s, satellite radio, a 60GB hard drive that can store 18GB of uploaded media, iPod integration, an auxiliary port, an SD card reader, premium audio with 10 speakers, an surround-view camera system, heated seats and steering wheel, heated rear seats, Easy Open liftgate, a Towing Package, and keyless entry and starting.
