2015 PORSCHE BOXSTER: Porsche’s exhibit at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show features the generation debut in the classic Porsche pairing of Boxster and Boxster S. Never before in the history of the Boxster was a change of generation been so comprehensive, as the open-top two-seater has a completely new lightweight design body and a completely revamped chassis. The front fascia of the 2015 Boxster includes integrated air intakes and outer intake slats in black, while the rear includes an automatically extending rear spoiler, chrome-colored logotype, and central twin-tube tailpipes in brushed stainless steel. The roadster top has fully electric operation, wind deflector and heatable rear glass window. Though not recommend, the opening and closing are possible up to vehicle speed of 31 mph. With considerably lower weight, a longer wheel-base, a wider track, and larger wheels, significantly enhance the mid-engine sports car's driving dynamics, supported by the new electro-mechanical power steering. Both Boxer and Boxer S are powered by flat-six engines with direct gas injection, the efficiency of which is further enhanced by electrical system recuperation, thermal management and auto start/stop function. The entry-level model’s new power unit delivers 265 hp from a 2.7-litre displacement - ten hp more than its larger displacement predecessor. For even higher performance numbers, the 2015 Boxster S comes with the 3.4L flat-six aluminum engine, which now delivers 315-hp – five-hp more than before. The rear-wheel drive Boxster models include a six-speed manual gearbox with dual mass flywheel, standstill management with HOLD function, and auto Start Stop function. While not purchased for its trunk space, the 2015 Boxster does provide 5.3 cu.-ft front / 4.6 cu.-ft rear of luggage room.
