2015 MERCEDES-BENZ C-CLASS: The all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class made a big hit at last year’s Chicago Auto Show, and continues into 2015 as the top-selling model series from German auto manufacturer. The new C-Class is assembled at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the USA and Canadian markets. On display at the 107th Chicago show (Feb.14-22, 2015), the next-generation C-Class sets new standards in the premium mid-range class. Fresh styling is striking clean and sensuous, with long hood, set back passenger compartment, short overhangs and large wheels communicate a sporty character. There are two C-Class models offered: C300 4Matic sedan with a 241-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged direct-injection four-cylinder engine and a C400 4Matic with a 3.0L turbocharged direct-injection V-6 at 329hp. Smooth automatic gear shifting is provided by the 7G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission, and the 4Matic permanent all-wheel-drive system serves to improve traction and driving stability in the C-Class. With a three inch increase in the wheelbase (112 inches) compared with the previous model, the vehicle is 3.7 inches longer (184 inches) and 1.6 inches wider (71 inches). The resultant additional space benefits the five passenger cabin, especially the rear passengers, who now travel in even greater comfort. The new C-Class also increases its trunk capacity to 17 cubic feet. The C-63 AMG sedan variation has not yet been officially announced.
