2014 SRT VIPER: Lovely Kristi, spokesmodel for Street and Racing Technology (SRT) brand introduces new Stryker Green exterior color for the fifth generation SRT Viper Coupe at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show. As American supercars, the SRT Viper and Viper GTS are hand-built in Detroit with the best power-to-weight ratio of any Viper ever. Ultra performance comes from the all-aluminum, 8.4-liter mid-front V-10 engine that pumps-out 640 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque. The Tremec six-speed manual shifter throw is abbreviated with closer gear ratios and the final drive ratio is shortened to 3.55 from 3.07. The powertrain makes it possible for low three-seconds from 0-to-60 mph and quarter-mile races in mid 11-seconds. On sanction tracks, a stock Viper can reach a top speed of 206 mph. Backing up all that muscle is standard electronic multistage stability control, traction control and front/rear Brembo four-channel anti-lock brake system. The SRT Viper stops in just 106 feet from 60-to-0 mph. To truly appreciate the SRT Viper, consumers receive a one-day driving experience by experts to maximize driving skills needed to handle this mega supercar. Always a crowd-pleaser, the latest two-seat Viper wears an aerodynamically shaped exterior featuring carbon-fiber for the decklid and double bubble roof, while door panels are aluminum, resulting in significant weight reduction. LED taillights integrate stop-and-turn illumination in one element, with each lamp using 50 LEDs for a “crystallized” illumination effect. An “SRT Viper Color Contest” that received more than 11,000 entries last October, was won by Chicagoan Patryk Skarzynski, resulting in a new exterior paint offering named Competition Blue. Also, Viper can be ordered with a unique metallic matte exterior paint as part of a special edition package, and there will be a limited production run of 50 Viper GTS models with Anodized Carbon Special Edition Package.
